Greetings to everyone I recently posted a message about the wrong doings of a Canadian dealer Yves Pascal-Dion. I supose I had a reason for doing this. Now I withdraw everything I said and I publicly apologize to this man for my words. He sent the promised bugs beautifully packed, full data and all of theme in A1 quality. I'm sorry for all this mess I did and apologize to you all! Sincerely Victor Lara Mexico City

Sincerely Victor Lara Mexico City First, you are a better person than I. You waited two months to get your bugs w/o so much as one email reply and here you are apogizing. For what it is worth, you did not make a mess....you told us of your situation....and....poof, the specimens arrived. I 'wonder ' why? Too bad you can't read in the old forum, for this seller has a history. You are not out of line for posting as you did. I have never ever in all my years waited two months for a package with emails not being answered from a reputable dealer. I could share my experience with this man, but will refrain from doing so as you seem content to let the wait w/o communication go by the wayside. I actually appreciate your posting. Your willingness to apolofpgize might be best changed to one of setting the record straight. I have been collecting/buying for many decades and do not tolerate such business transactions as you recently went through. Btw.....are you going to order from him again? Wrong doings.....I suppose you did have a reason for posting both your frustration and the solution that miraculously happened after your post. Glad you got your bugs......not all members can say the same.

After multiple unanswered emails about the status of my order, I finally received this reply from Yves-Pascal, 2 months after placing my order "I believe that you are not aware that it may take a long time before I get the CITES permits from my government. I believe that It can take another month or two before I get the permit. Our government make it very hard for us to do business with birdwings." This message only came after I filed a complaint through PayPal for non-receipt. I agreed to accept the Ornithoptera without CITES certificate, and received them in good shape within a week or two. I am debating whether to order from him again or not....

An update on obtaining Canadian Cites Permit. The govt. states that when applying for permits the wait time is 6-8 weeks. However, the reality over the last year since they have centralized the permit application process (And we all have to apply to the same place) is actually now about 4 weeks max. I apply all the time. However to get better service I have all my foreign Cites permits lodged on file with the govt so all they have to do is look up the original permit, check the quota for each species with the permit deductions and away they go. It does not take much longer than that. Things move along fine for me and there are no such "extra delays". Don't ever accept your Cites listed specimens without a permit with the parcel. You are opening yourself up to problems you don't ever want to experience. Also the sender can really get into problems as well as once intercepted the "snowball" process starts. I would suggest that if you were asked to accept them without permits that there was probably no permits proving legal import into Canada in the first place. You could be playing a game that might cause you some serious headaches.
