Right way up in the uk and look very nice, I could really get into saturnidae, I've reared a few from purchased ova and they are great, but I don't have the room. You don't seem to get pestered by the anti collecting brigade when you're collecting moths but if you're swinging a net at a butterfly they'll hang you, in the uk at least. Rich I'm in the UK are they're upside down for me too... What browser are you using Rich? Simon

Maybe it's an Apple vs MS problem. I'm using Windows XP and IE8. I just tried opening the page with Google Chrome, but the pics are still upside down.
Adam.

I'm using Firefox on a windows system. The previews are upside down, but when I open the attachments, the photos are right-side-up... though strangely they load from the bottom up, as opposed to the usual top down.

I guess I am just lucky. When I view the smaller images on display on this page, they are upside down. When I click on them to see the larger images, they display right side up. Fortunately for me I have software that allows me to flip images, left to right or top to bottom, once I have saved the images. Also fortunately for all of us, the identity of the moths does not change whether they are viewed right side up or upside down, but it is still easier to do determinations when viewing the images in more standard display mode. Thanks again for sharing. Whenever I post any images, I try to post them right side up, unless it is a live shot with a moth whose head is normally down in a resting pose, as is the case with some Catocala. I have no idea why Bill's images are displaying upside down. He might be willing to do an experiment though, and save one of the images so it displays upside down on his own computer, post that digital image to this site, and see if it displays right side up. That's how I would attack the gremlins! Possibly it has something to do with inclusion of data (text) above each image. Might be best to post a number of images and then post text under the group of images. Bill Oehlke

Hey Bill, Thanks for taking part in the experiment! The image of the daltonae appears on it's side to me (i.e. the specimens' wingtips point to the left when I view it, rather than pointing upwards) but the second image (of the mannana female) is fine Simon

Thanks for responding Simon. I don't know what to say. I loaded them up and gave plenty of wait time....they appeared to be just fine. I even previewed them and did an edit to check out things.
I am using an iPod to send the more recent higher quality pics. My work computer is a regular Windows XP and the images were up side down too today. My Windows XP at home showed them the right way. I guess Clark will have to do his magic and see what, if anything, I am doing wrongly. I will refrain from posting more pics until I learn how to do it so people here and on the other side of the world can view natural poses without hanging like a bat to see them...lol.
Thanks to all for sharing your statuses....hope this gets worked out.

When I was down in Belize, the big moths came into the lights on the second and third nights, and every night after that, until we left the country. My suggestion is go down to Belize and do some tropical collecting yourself, you will see some of the moths. Jeff Prill
