Hi all,
what Chalcosoma is in Sulawesi? I have Ch. atlas from Malaysia and Ch. ssp from Sulawesi. All I have found (proper books are non-existent, or hard to find) is that it should be Ch. atlas too. But they are so different, from Malaysian atlas. Also in Malaysia they live in the mountains, in Sulawesi in much lower elevation.
Is it just a ssp. ?
Thanks for help.

Hello,
If your talking mainland Sulawesi this is the nominate race Chalcosoma Atlas Atlas. Off shore islands like Peleng island race C. A. Shintae and Buton island race is C. A. Butonensis. If your talking mainland Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo this is Chalcosoma Atlas Keyboh. They have different shaped paired horns and centre horn is different aswell.

Thank you very much. That helped a lot.
Am I correct thinking that there are only 3 species of Chalcosoma, and only Borneo has 2 of them?
