As many collectors, I spend a lot of time on Ebay and I sometimes encounter some very funny ads. I thought it would be fun to open a topic about most funny ebay ads. Today's example : the rocket ship of Flash Gordon is for sale !!! Price is not so high to go on Jupiter ! See hereWho wants to bid on it ??

Wow! I have seen some doozies but this one takes the cake. You're dead on correct about this guy's writing talent! He should be on the Letterman show for certain! Thanks for posting this. It's truly hilarious! Cheers, Darrell

No offense, but we the Europeans have learned from the American movies that you can't have humor without puke, hot (or wet) farts, disturbingly loud burps and other sorts of otherwise disgusting things.
Nevertheless the writing is well done.

Let's make this thread more entomological. There is one very... passionate ebay seller. He describes his items with the epithets like these: "Fantastic", "a extremely rare", "a nice and beautiful", "a very beautiful", "a magnificent", "a wonderful", "a interesting", "a highly interesting", "a fascinating", "a strange". And my favorite - " A very well horned". This picture says: "Buy one insect, get one free". Buy Goliathus, get a free fly: This one is from an insect store, not ebay. Look closer, there is another discrepancy besides an obvious 'anti-sale'. The more you pay, the more I earn:

Your post is comedy gold Nosorog The fly is, of course, the star of the show. Due to it's CITIES listing (until now, a gag to get a raise out of wealthy collectors), the seller had to be VERY discreet about the way he presented it. The Zeus fly is an extremely rare dipteran from the rift valley of Africa, and is a closely guarded secret of the mysterious tribal group the Machatu. This is probably the first photographic evidence that it even exists. It is said ingesting even a single fly gave young warriors enough strength to overpower a charging rhino, the preferred initiation at the time.

I imagine that this is the same seller who has Goliathus so fresh that they are, in his words, "still juicy" I've found those "juicy" Goliathus on ebay. Different seller. All other sellers sell spoiled crisp Goliathus, but this one sells fresh and juicy. I love beetles, but such epithets crack me up.

Here is another good one. $295 for a Papilio polyxenes wing. Probably the scaleless abberation of a long-extinct subspecies.... Then again, NOT. Attachments:

Here is a nice 'aberrant' Attacus atlas with colors a lot lighter than normal. Never mind that it is from the 1950's, it is clearly an aberrant. Attachments:
