Xixuthrus costatus, a prionid
LOL I was selling one of those at the Pomona bug show ten years ago and nobody bought it on Saturday. So on Sunday I doubled the price and it sold in ten minutes, after which I had people asking if I had any more! I still have a number of these papered.

I have specimens that are nearly the same a Xixuthrus sp. if not the same species, from north Queensland. Reasonably common adventurer to lights at my place at the height of the wet season. Ash

This is not Xixuthrus costatus but Xixuthrus lansbergei. As far as I'm aware X.lansbergei is only found on Bougainville and Guadalcanal (other localities uncertain) and X.costatus is found on Malaita, so there may be an error collection data.

Which species occurs on San Christobal?
I never saw Xixuthrus on Guadalcanal. Not to say they are not there.
