Yes the forum self censoring software is rather basic, as if it was taking the pi$$ not letting you write miyash-tai with 3 'i's.
Adam.

Cool, where is it from? As it looks similar to L satoi from Laos?

Peter,
I thought my friend sent you specimens from Doi Phu Kha, Nan Province? That is near the border of NW Laos. Doi Pa Hom Pok is near Fang, in the north of Chiang Mai Province, and is near the Burmese border.

I assume that Lucanus satoi and miyas hitai are different species.

Yes, satoi (Nagai et Tsukamoto, 2003) is endemic to Laos whereas miyash itai (Mizunuma, 1994) is restricted to Northern Thailand. They are very similar species which is why I mentioned satoi and initially thought they were the same. A major difference is found in the antenal segments with miyash itai having more elongated segments and the club having a more rounded appearance overall.

After a few discussions with the collector of this species, I am confident that the specimen is miyash itai. I do agree that the two specimens look very similar but I am now happy and 100% confident on miyash itai. Many thanks Peter
