can anyone ID me this specimen from oklahoma USA. may be a kind of Megaloptera (Corydalidae?) 75mm long regards pete Attachments:

A female Corydalis cornutis Linnaeus. I'm very familiar with them. You might have to preserve it in ethyl alcohol, since the body tends to wrinkle when it's dried. Jeff Prill

If you trout fish and want "Big" Trout, use the larva, Hellgrammites.

Two other options to preserving the abdomen are: 1. fill it with silicon 2. connect a air needle (the thing you use to fill balls) to an aquarium pump, pump it with air, and hit it with a hair dryer.
Hmmm...maybe we should have a separate thread on preserving catarpillars and soft bodies.
