Here's one of my old pieces to kick off. The dome was glued in three places with a small amount of hot glue. So technically it is not pest proof, but the dome can be removed for cleaning by heating up the base with a hair dryer, which softens the hot glue and allows the glass to come off. Attachments:

The domes are made by Corning in New York. The wood bases....you have to research that. I can't remember where I got them, it was so long ago.

You might try a hobby store for both the domes & bases. I've seen them for sale at a local hobby chain called "Hobby Lobby" in the Houston area. Might try an auction site such as eBay as well. Good luck!
