it's hard to tell by the photos, but is the male more intense color than the female?

Splendid species ! Steeve had some nice examples of different sp / ssp for sale at Juvisy. It was an impressive drawer !

Dave, what's the data on your godfreyi specimens cos those on the left are quite a bit larger than those on the right. Bottom picture, top left is female but can't tell with the bottom left if it's male or female, s.sp pinratana is quite a bit larger than the nominate.

The name Stichophthalma godfreyi pinratanai Ek-Amnuay, [2007] is a nomen nudum because no type specimens were designated in the original description. The subspecies from Ranong, S Thailand, does not currently have a valid name.
I told Ek-Amnuay that his names were unavailable after his book was published, and he tried to rectify the problem in the 2nd edition by listing holotypes there. However the names are all still unavailable because he didn't treat them as new taxa in the 2nd edition as required by the Code. He just listed types in 2012, treating the names as published in 2006 (actually 2007, as the book was not published until then).

Thanks for that info Adam, not bad for someone who doesn't know much about stichophthalma, so for now we have the nominate and an un named possible s.sp or just a big form from Ranong, this must fly with louisa s.sp ranohngensis so hopefully I can find a supplier for both in one hit, which would be good.

There were also new names introduced in Papilionidae and other families in that book. The only one that was validly published is apparently a junior synonym, as the same taxon had been described by a Japanese a few months previously.
