This creature was found near Tuscon, AZ and photographed by a friend. I have seen them during my visits to AZ and CA. I assume it is a beetle of some sort.  |

That is a female Meloidae (blister beetle)with the summer rains the adults are active with plenty of plant material to feed on.

Genus Megetra. A female, I have a series of them from Arizona.
