Dear folks, Does anyone has ever deal/purchase specimens from Bernd Liese? Plan to get some chilasa from him. Any helps will be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Make sure they are carefully packed. Several years ago Timo and Bernd Liese sent me a package of rare Mexican Papilionidae in exchange for some of my specimens, but they were packed like beetles in cardboard backed cellulose with staples all round them. Unfortunately many of them were totally ruined because the staples from the specimen on top tore through the next specimen below when they moved inside the package in the post. This happened all through the parcel, and after I complained they said they would send me some replacements when they got more stock, but they never did send me anything. It was all rather sad to see the rare butterflies destroyed, basically due to stupidity.
Adam.

I dealt with them many years ago and recieved damaged specimens, as a result did not deal with them again. They do get good material though.

Hello all, Thank you very much for the reply. I will ask him to pack specimens with extra care. Looks like he's a reliable seller.

I do know they were selling specimens from the John Kamps (Panzerman) collection. Presumably they are packed safely as spread specimens.
Adam.

I dealt with them only once: they proposed to me some Bhutanitis, including two lidderdalii ocellatomaculata from Thailand. Pity that the specimens were "common" indian lidderdalii lidderdalii from old collections with fake data.
