Just wanted to generally know how many different Charaxes species are there recognized at present? I'm not interested in knowing subspecies,forms,etc. Just a ballpark figure.

I can't answer that myself, but since Polyura is now regarded as a subgenus of Charaxes, the number has increased somewhat.

this turns around 170 species of Charaxes s.l. for Africa. + 4 Palla + 6 Euxante add the Asian ones (? around 50, Polyura included)

I remember having visited 2 interesting websites about Charaxes but cannot find their address on google. Thierry, would you have the links to these websites ?
If I remember well, nearly all species were pictured.

one is those of Vingerhoedt www.charaxes.bethe other is those of Arnoux but I failed to refind it !
