Clark, that is a very interesting theory and one which I have given much thought to. ckswank, one of the hot-spots for big cats in Britain is where I live. I too keep a wary eye when I am trapping in the woods since finding this out, and I never go alone. I have heard suspicious noises when I have been moth trapping out in the sticks but put them down to deer, badgers or even wild boar, but now I find myself thinking..........! Dave

Do aliens fall into this category?
Megan Fox played a cryptozoologic role in the movie Jennifers Body. What a way to die. Still worth it.

"Speaking of Big Cats" Cougars are very rarely seen in Sask. & even more rarely is one actually "collected". Following are a couple of newspaper photos (not ultra clear) of a 150 lb young cougar that was accidentally snared on a trap line only about 50 miles (80 kms) NNE of my home yd. on 03 March 2010. Pretty impressive creature...sad it had to die. Two yrs. ago a young 1.5 yr. old cougar that was radio collared in the state of Montana (just S. of SK) was actually shot right in the western part of Saskatoon, SK, the largest city in the province! It had made its way up through SK via river valleys & ended up right in the city a little ways from the S. SK. river that bisects the city in two. It was extremely frightened & was seen bounding wildly through back yds & was near schools & kids & unfortunately was shot due to fear of attack; the city was unprepared for such an encounter & took a lot of flack for not "darting" & relocating it instead...shoot 1st, ask questions later... A good lifelong friend of mine told me of having to suddenly brake to avoid hitting a cougar that ran across a highway about 10 miles (16 kms) SW of my yd. about 15 yrs. ago. It was in broad daylight when a huge yellow cat with a very long tail bounded across the road right in front of his vehicle...a rare & exciting "close encounter" no doubt! John K. Attachments:

John, Now that is a BIG CAT !!! You wouldn't want to bump into that while out collecting! I'm uncertain about big cats in the UK - if (and I accept its a big IF) they are out there they've got to be from releases (be they accidental or in response to the introduction of the "Dangerous Wild Animals Act" over here). The UK is obviously nowhere near as big nor has as much wilderness as Canada so I wouldn't have expected them to be able to "hide" in the UK as easily as where you are... That said, there are still large tracts of uninhabited land in the UK and if they are out there they probably benefit from the fact that the UK doesn't have a history of hunting in the same way as the US and Canada does... Thanks for sharing the 'photo Simon

The above posting of the Sask. cougar is the 1st time I have ever uploaded those photos to these forums...past or present...I just "relocated" the photos while sorting through stuff & would have posted them long ago,...but couldn't find them until now! John K.

I thought that this comment on the article was quite ammusing: "After a number of sightings, officials have released the following advisory: When engaging in outdoor activity in Brazoria County, officials advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle tigers. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a tiger. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of tiger activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between tiger and mountain lion droppings. Mountain lion droppings are smaller and contain lots of berries and rodent fur. Tiger droppings have little bells in it and smell like pepper..."

I would think he took that from this - This is a sign at a campground in British Columbia taken several years ago.
