Can a kill jar or 3 ounces of ethyl acetate be carried-on a commercial flight? I would prefer not to have to try to mail myself things in advance of a trip to Florida I'll be making in January, and I'm also trying to avoid checking luggage.
Others' experiences/thoughts??

I traveled when I was working (Now retired?)and many times I would have the opportunity to collect on my business trips. I used Ethyl Acetate. I would Purchase a plastic bottle (6oz?) of Fingernail Polish Remover. Dump the contents down the drain and fill the bottle with Ethyl Acetate. Fingernail Polish Remover primary ingredient is Ethyl Acetate. I would fill the bottle about 3/4 full. I “ALWAYS” packed the bottle in my checked baggage.
On my return trip I would dumped the Fingernail Polish Remover bottle in the trash before heading to the Airport. It was less of a hassel.
Worked for me...............

I have taken Ethyl Acetate twice to Florida in my hand luggage The second time my hand luggage was searched at the airport on the way back. I had papered insects and a bottle of Ethyl Acetate with them. They were not interested in either and just confiscated everything in a aerosol can

Acetate is a flammable liquid, it could very easily be confiscated. The advice with fingernail polish remover is probably the safest bet for CHECKING it through - but carrying seems like a good way to end up in Florida without any acetate.
You can always drive to Home Depot in Florida once you get there and buy MEK substitute (which = 100% Ethyl Acetate). Call stores in the area ahead of time to track it down - home improvement and automotive stores might have it. OR you can go to a drug store and buy NON acetone fingernail polish remover (which is a bit watered down acetate). That will be easier than shipping or checking!
