My take on them......genus Cricula. Species might be trifenestrata
If so, not African, but Asian and Indoaustralian. China, Philippines, Malaysia, India, Laos, Thailand, Sulawesi, Java, and Indonesian islands....Ceram, Lesser Sunda and more.

Cricula trifenestrata - three fenestrae = windows, referring to the windows in front wing. A common SEA species. The cocoon is "fish net" style.

I sometimes see larvae of this species in my garden, although I haven't seen any for a few years. They are bright red and gregarious.
