it is Histioea falerina DRUCE, 1907 (Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7) 20, p. 506) see also Seitz: Die Grossschmetterlinge der Erde, Vol. 6, Die amerikanischen Spinner und Schwärmer, p. 102, pl. 29b
Original description of Druce:
"Histiaea falerina, sp. n. Male.— Head, antennae, collar, teguae, thorax, and base of abdomen black; head and collar spotted with metallic blue; abdomen metallic blue; legs black. Primaries black, the basal half of the wing red streaked with black; a broad oblique yellow band beyond the cell, a metallic-blue spot at the base, and a blue streak at the end of the cell; secondaries red, edged with black, widest at the apex and the middle of the outer margin. Expanse 2 3/4 inches. Hab. Peru, Marcapata [Mus. Druce)"

So much for new discoveries ! Thank you for the ID and the source. Do you, per chance, have the web link to this...I found one link on the internet, but could not find the plate. Incidentally, can you recommend a good search method (especially with use of such old historical literature) to find ID's when the "modern" sources do not depict such ?

Last question...has this Ctenuchinae been assigned to a tribe and/or subtribe ?
