Hi, my work is bringing me to Houston for three months (March to June) and I wanted to know if any fellow insectnet'ers are from that area?
I will try to breed a few of the local Lycaenidae species and maybe also go for the hunt for more local stuff. For example Callophrys xami would interest me very much, anyone familiar on where to find it?
All the best, Claude.

Hi Claude,
Remember that Texas is large. Houston is in the wet southeastern habitat region. - lots of swamps and coastal wetlands. Xami is a western montane desert species. You probably have a 6-700 mile drive between Houston and xami.
I just wanted to make sure that you knew that's it’s not an afternoon drive between the two areas.
You may want to contact Nick Grishin (in relatively nearby Dallas)- he really knows where the local oddities are found. Just Google Nick plus Hesperiidae and you will get his email .

I had to fly over it once when going from California to Florida and there was nothing, except sand, out the window for a very long time. Xami is something I hope I could find when investing a full weekend, and even that sounds like a tight schedule. Thank you for the recommendation, I will try and get in contact. Thank you once again, Claude.

Claude,
I live in Houston, Texas. No C. xami around here, but I can help you find local species. Things usually start flying in early March.

Great! I should also be around from beginning of March to end of June. I will write you as soon as I have time, today I have to catch a flight to Baltimore.

Hello, Claude. I live in Dickinson, about 50 miles south of where David lives. I've known him & collected with him numerous times over the past few years. I actually first made contact with him here on Insectnet back in 2006. Plenty of good & diverse habitats in this area of SE Texas. Hope to get to meet you while you are here.

That sounds great Charlie! I will get in touch with both of you as soon as I have my head free. Still have to find an accommodation near Rice and only one month left to go.
Greetings, Claude.
