Can anyone recommend a comprehensive guide, internet or other, for moths of this region. I cannot seem to get any answers for any of my most recent ID requests. I have been through Bold Systems several times now. Other sourses already tried include Butterflies and Beetles of Argentina, Moths of Belize, Bolivan Butterflies and Moths, Borboletas e Mariposas (Brazil), Brazil Hawkmoths, Moths of Costa Rica, Entomofauna, insectafgseag, passions-papillons, Cahurel-entomologie, Insectes de collection de guyane francaise, Honduras Lepidoptera, Artengaleries Paraguay, eroraholic.com, Moths of Northern Peru, Moth Photographers Group, Butterflies of Amazon and Andes, Insectos Pybio Paraguay, insects-web.org, Lepido-france and janzen.sas. Thank you, Michael

Lemaire published several (expensive) volumes on some moths. They are now out of print.
Member Bill should be along shortly to give you the info on his website, which is the most exhaustive reference available.

There are two sets of books that attempted to provide what you want. I still use both the butterfly volumes – so I’m guessing that the moth volumes are still relevant as well. The Biologigia is probably the better of the two (and is free). The Macro Lepidoptera of the World – volumes VI-VIII cover western moths. Amazingly you can still buy these “new” through some weird accident of storage luck during WWII. www.seitzcollection.com/php/volume5 .php Volume VI: THE AMERICAN BOMBYCES AND SPHINGES. Stuttgart 1940. 4to. pp. vi, 1327; pp. (viii), with 198 chromolithographed plates. Unbound in portfolio.€ 1.200,00 Volume VII: THE MACROLEPIDOPTERA OF THE AMERICAN REGION: NOCTUIFORMES. Stuttgart 1923. 4to. pp. 1-412, with 87 chromolithographed plates. Unbound in portfolio. € 400,00 Volume VIII: THE AMERICAN GEOMETRIDAE. Stuttgart 1931. 4to. pp. 1-144, with 16 chromolithographed plates. Unbound in portfolio. € 350,00 The Biologia Centrali-Americana is online at - www.sil.si.edu/digitalcollections/bca/explore.cfm Insecta. Lepidoptera-Heterocera. Volume I (1881-1900) by Herbert Druce Insecta. Lepidoptera-Heterocera. Volume II (1891-1900) by Herbert Druce Insecta. Lepidoptera-Heterocera. Volume III (1881-1900) by Herbert Druce Insecta. Lepidoptera-Heterocera. Volume IV (1909-1915) by Lord Walsingham John

Thank you so much, John, for the references. Just amazing how EXPENSIVE those volumes are !!! I don't suppose those volumes are available online....Volume XV: THE MACROLEPIDOPTERA OF THE AFRICAN FAUNA: NOCTUID HETEROCERA is of interest, but at 350 Euros, I don't know!

Michael, I can probably help with identifications of Saturniidae from all over the world and with Sphingidae from North, Central and South America. My Sphingidae of the Americas website is at www.silkmoths.bizland.com/SphNations.htmMy World's Largest Saturniidae Site is a private membership site where over 1550 different worldwide Saturniidae species are depicted. There are active checklists for just about every country that has Saturniidae. One time life time membership is $25.00 US If you send me digital images of Saturniidae for id work, I request you send data with the images and grant permission for me to post to the website, those images, credited to you, which I have identified. Bill Oehlke I can only help with those two families.
