I'm very surprised about the variability about the females of Papilio torquatus ! Here are two females from French Guyana , the left one from Kaw and the right one from Apatou , and my surprise is about the patch on forewings : -for the left specimen : patch washed out at edge and only S2 -for the right specimen : patch with well-defined edge and on S2-S3-S4 and the cell On the site ""butterfliesofamerica.com"" the aberration modestus is given to a specimen like my left one ; can i for mine ? Thank you for your answer

Hi, in my experience, the female is very variable in FG, from a big large white dash (more extended than this one) to the total abscence of white (with a all black forewing )!

Thank you for this indications ! Is there a progressive extension of the patch from a coutry to another country or is this totally random in different countries ?
