Hi clark Where i can buy the vapor lamp with no balast. Also the 40w black light. I have both here at my place in Southern California. New ones for sale. Pick them up and save shipping costs. These are made by Leptraps.com. If you are not in my area then you can find them on leptraps.com. I am a sales rep for the company so if you do buy anything from them please mention my name so I can get credit. Thanks.

Thank you for the posting, thought I was there. That's the idea. The stereo fidelity on the camera is what makes it so three-dimensional.

You guys and gals in California are fortunate to have insect fairs. I wish we had at least one here somewhere in the Eastern US. There are collectors here in the east, but for some reason we just can't get together like this. Perhaps it's time I looked into the matter. The only real get together I am aware of is the KY Lepidopterist meeting in November, and from what I've heard not many people show up. I think one major factor is that we are fewer and further between than collectors in the LA area, so most folks wouldn't drive for hours just to attend an insect show, example;(someone driving from Atlanta to Nashville would be on the road for four hours or so). Then again it may be a matter of Just Doing It! and see what happens.

If you do start one InsectNet will provide free advertising for you. That's my mission.

That's good to know Clark. Thank you very much for the support. Looking at the map east of the Mississippi river, the Tennessee/Kentucky area is centrally located, so I would strongly consider somewhere in the Nashville area. I may make a few calls to some dealers just to test the waters. From past videos I can see Insect dealers from far away attending the show in LA. Too bad guys like Greg Lewallen who was present at one of the shows, are no longer in business. They had a very nice insect business going in Texas, and I bought a lot of specimens from them in the past. I was rather saddened to learn of Rod Lewallen's passing. I still have one of their catalogs in my library. Anyway, I would hope that if something could be arranged, enough people would attend to make it worthwhile. Maybe if it were posted far enough in advance, so folks could schedule their time to correspond, then go from there? I can try to find a place to accommodate such an event first, and make plans to see it through. Any suggestions from fellow collectors would be appreciated.

Here's an idea: select the nearest city to the best habitat of Speyeria diana and schedule the show for their peak flight season. Catch my drift?

Thank you Clark. Better than a Summer blockbuster. Check the tip jar. Thanks for keeping this site free. Could the tip jar be in more places on the site than just the main portal page?
