Can anybody help me with identifying these tiger beetles? I found them last week in central Illinois (near Urbana-Champaign) in the Kickapoo State Recreation Area on the bank of the Vermilion river.

Looks like Cicindela repanda, but maybe someone else can confirm/refute.

I agree with mantisboy. It also looks like they should get a room.

I used to not know US tiger beetles well either, but I've gotten really interested in them after buying "A Field Guide to the Tiger Beeltes of the United States and Canada", so I can identify a few of the more common or distinctive ones now.

Claude- next time you're in IL you should stop by for a visit at the Illinois Natural History Survey! I will! This time I had a tight schedule and was only there to visit two friends that live there now. They should still be there for some time, so I will visit more often when time and money permits. I was there for only 3 days, gladly the very same days when Houston got flooded (including the house I am staying at).
