I raised P. troilus for a few years, but never tried L. tulipifera as a food plant. I have always found ova and larvae on Sassafras albidum and for sure Lindera benzoin works. I'm not sure if L. tulipifera is reported as a food plant by mistake or if the larvae can survive, and if so, how well they survive. In the wild, I have never found any of their ova on tulip tree, which I check frequently for Papilio glaucus.
I would trust personal experience over what a few websites say, unless there's ample evidence to back up those website. For example, you can find "info" out there that says Battus philenor feeds on wild ginger. I can tell you, that's total garbage.

I have also found P. troilus eggs frequently on camphor. Do you have access to that plant? Persea species "may" work, but I don't have personal experience. The close relative Papilio palamedes feeds on Persea borbonia and palustris.
