Nice pair Panzerman. I got my male just at years end of 2010 and he looks more like your female with all the orange. These are really a pretty handsome butterfly. I waited for years until I got mine.

Thank you, Bill. I agree, you hardly ever see this offered. John

Yes, this is a very difficult species to get hold of. I have a few males, and nearly obtained a female a couple of years ago. I paid for it (from a highly reputable Czech dealer) and despite the parcel being registered it never arrived. The Czech post office claimed it got lost in Thailand, and the Thai PO said it never arrived. This is the only registered parcel I have ever lost (although occasionally unregistered mail goes astray), and as well as the hellanichus female there was a male xanthopleura and some P. helenus from South India inside - ouch!

John, you make me turn green with envy, superb. Adam I almost had the same experience when I sent cash for some T Aureus pairs, the letter turned up 5 weeks late but fortunatly I got my specimens, I was gutted thinking I'd lost it all, hope my soon to be arriving xanthopleura dont get lost. Still you can comfort yourself with a fine 3-1 win for the baggies on saturday!

I had 2 parcels in past(sent via registered mail) from highly regarded dealers that got lost. One had an AI papilio aristodemus bjorndalae female with 5 red patches inside...double ouch! Most memorable was 3 months ago, I got a parcel with a supberb AI pair of parides coelus from C. Zoeller. When the mailman delvered it...it truly looked like it had kicked around by some postal employee pretending to emulate some soccer star. To my utter surprise, the mounted specimens were perfect, not even antennae damage. This showed me that "expert" triple boxing saved the day!!!!! Thank you Herr Zoeller!

Boing Boing, Dunc, Boing Boing! Need a few more of those before the season ends though.
Unfortunately the parcel never turned up, and it wasn't returned to sender either. The Czech dealer said he'd never had a registered parcel go missing before either.
Adam.

Here is my still-rather-new-male from Dec. of 2010. I bought him as a male and have not yet bothered to check the claspers if there are any. These are great bugs no matter the sex. Glad to see others appreciate them as well. Attachments:
