Chris,
Here in S and SE London we get lots of stag beetles, season now ernded for this year. A male L. cervus flew into our Croydon office, on the 6th floor, a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't in the office at the time but my colleagues took a photo and showed me it (around 60mm male)
Strangely, around my home, I have only found female L. cervus over the last 5 years, and the only m,ale I'v seen over that time was just a head, the body eaten by something.
Look forward to hearing how things are going in Germany.
Johnny

As always I enjoy watching your Videos, thanks for posting.
I would like to annotate, that in my humble opinion the term "freak" instead of "aberration" is a little unscholarly in an entomological context.

Yeah "Freak" is not scientific but I wouldn't call it an aberrant because most probably it was caused by a problem during moulting to pupa.
Do you all understand german?

At first I thought about a gynandromorph but probably this deformation was caused by problems with molting.
