Kentucky, Scott County 29 August 2016 You can see some dull orange at the tip of the forewing.

The orange is not as bright and the camera just does not show the orange, with or without the flash
Virginia, Highland County 30 July 1981 This striking specimen was also collected in a Bait Trap.
In my collection I have 22 specimens of Limenitis arthemis Astyanax from Kentucky and Virginia that are some sort of Hybrid/aberrant. The farther northeast you get in Virginia, the more the Limenitis arthemis arthemis/Astyanax hybrids replace the Limenitis arthemis astyanax/archippus hybrids.
This is the reason I use Bait Traps.
No Waffle House today. We are off to Maysville, Kentucky this morning in search of Limenitis archippus. I will set out a dozen Bait Traps in an area with Willows. We will stop at Slippery Creek for Biscuit's and Gravy a Granny's (A Restaurant in the middle of No Where).
Only in Virginia did I find better collecting and more out there, if you know what I mean.
