Common, rare? I see it was described in 2001, pretty recently.

I doubt there are many truly rare Saturniidae. Most of them are probably fairly common in their own localized communities. One of the problems with some of the recently described, Saturniidae 2008-onwards, is that they are identifications (new classifications) of moths which have long been in people's collections under other names. DNA barcoding analysis in many cases s needed to identify one species from another unless location is specified and accurate. It is great to have wingspans and verso images because sometimes the similar species are decidedly different in size, or, if uppersides are quite similar, there may be differences in the undersides of the moths.
