I caught a C. nebulosa in Steuben Co., Indiana (Very NE most county in Indiana) I believe it was early August. How far north are you?

I just recently learned that four new USA Catocala species were designated in 2015-2016 by Kons and Borth: Catocala aestivalia HT northern Florida Catocala myristica HT Mississippi Catocala slotteni HT Florida Gulf Coast Catocala ventura HT California
These species are very similar to previously "known" species, and in many cases DNA barcoding will be needed for positive confirmation. I am in process of creating species files for these new species. If you have specimens in your collecting from the HT location or nearby, you may have one or more of the newly named species in your collection. I will be adding links to the species files and from the USA list very shortly. Ricky Patterson alerted me to myristica, and I think Ricky will be sending me some images of that species soon. Bill Oehlke. We are not that far away for the beginning of the Catocala flight season in the southern states. Already Actias luna is flying in Florida and Alabama.
