Can anyone help ID the Catocalas I have been finding here in northern California (Alameda County to be specific)? I don't have many photos, only a few of a male that I could not get to open its wings and a very beat up female. I do have pictures of the larva that feed on willows. Male Larva Beat up female

The moth is Noctua pronuba, an invasive from Europe.
Since its introduction about 1979 to North America (Nova Scotia, Canada and in less ten years was reported in California.
In 2003 I collected a male on Mount Evan's in Colorado at 11,500 feet elevation.

Thanks, guess I have to change the thread title to Noctuoidea.... Still don't know what the larva on willow is though. Now that I look at it again, it looks like possibly Zale?

It appears to be an Erebidea, not sure of Genus. You might try BAMONA.
Not much online about western moth larvae.
If I am wrong, I am sure someone will correct me!!
