Very pretty! Are you planning to reset them or just leave them like that?

No I won't mess with them, they are too old.

No I won't mess with them, they are too old. Very sensible, best leave them as they are. Adam.

In my experience Adam it's not wise to tamper with old specimens, it can end in tears.

It's nice to get an old pair of C. christophi christophi from Kyrgyzstan, all recent material is from Tajikistan or Uzbekistan, mainly from the Kumbel Pass. The type locality of the nominotypical subspecies is at the absolute eastern end of its distribution in the Kyrgyz part of the Alai range, and for about 400km to the west and southwest of the type locality there is no variation in the phenotype. However, only about 40km east of the type locality ssp. helialaica is found, this has quite a narrow distribution but is consistently very different to the nominotypical ssp., being much whiter. This is the only other valid subspecies. Photos of short series of both subspecies are included below for comparison. Bob Attachments:

Thanks. The larger series of helialaica I collected myself at Tengisbai Pass in the Alai range. It brings back great memories when I look at it. Bob

My modest series of C. christophi contains one rather old specimen on a short, headless stainless steel pin. Unfortunately there is no locality data, but the brittle and brown-with-age id label says "Colias christophi Grm.-Grsh." apparently written with an honest-to-God nib pen, and the tiny printed label below that says "Collection of Alexander B. Klots". Even without data it's a treasure to me, just because it came from Klots' collection! Wonder who Klots got it from?
Do any other Colias enthusiasts out there hold any Klots material?
