Another shot with the Sony R1. I badly underexposed this picture, but managed to salvage it somewhat in RAW editing. That's why it looks a little muddy. You're asking yourself, "How did he get a live diana to sit on a girl's finger and pose for a picture?" It is a dried specimen with its wings set at a 90 degree angle using a special spreading board. The top portion of the pin was clipped off so that the total pin length remaining was about 5/8". I cut a little flat foam square, about 1/4" x 1/4" and taped it to her finger using a flesh-colored BandAid. Then carefully pinned the butterfly on her finger. Attachments:

A very lovely young lady! Does she collect as well? Speyeria diana is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent Nymphalidae species, and because they are sexually dimorphic it's like getting two species in one. Nice photo Clark. Tom
