This is for Stag beetles collector and specialist of Oriental biogeography, that I know some are on the site and very well informed. I am working on African Nigidius but I would like to complete my knowledges with general info for the Oriental region - distribution : it seems that genus is localised from North-East India and Andamans to Korea and Japan, and limited to the south by Sulawesi, Java, Philippines and Andamans. It seems not present in Papua, nor in Australia, seems to not be in India and farer in the West and seems limited to the North by the southern slopes of Himalaya. - biotopes : seems all are forest species wet tropical or equatorial.
The center of distribution (richness) seems the islands of Philippine-Taiwan-Borneo-Sulawesi and the Indochinese Peninsula (Burma, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia). Does it correspond to a biogeographic region ? The genus being present in Africa and SE Asia it is strange that it is not found in India nor in Madagascar. Nor excatly Wallace's line nor Liddekerk's line ?
