Just wondering if anyone else is into ant keeping? Basically you catch a queen ant after she has mated and build a nest for her and watch her grow her colony.(Its way more complex than that but its too much for me to write )

Ok. So my 3 queens have laid eggs about 4-5 each. They are in separate glass tubes with compressed cotton wool for moisture on one end and a small hole in lid for ventilation. My question; do i need to feed them? If so, what do i feed them?

My question; do i need to feed them? If so, what do i feed them? Most likely not, some species are semi-claustral which mean the queens forage for food, but not many do this. Do you know the species if not could you post some pics? I might be able to ID them for you and tell you if there semi claustral or fully claustral(Don't forage). When the first workers arrive give the the smallest drop of honey, like super small they can drown in it pretty easy.

My only interest in ants was how to keep them from getting into my bait traps. Ants not only eat the bait, they also attack and consume entrapped Lepidoptera. They never bothered the wasps, flies, hornets or beetles, just a PITA.
I learned to coat the tether lines with "Raid" and later with Vaseline and liquid pesticides. I became a real good exterminator of ants. The worst are those tiny little red SOB's......
The first time I ever collected a Darapsa versicolor in a bait trap "(1980?)" I was on Black Mountain in Kentucky, those little Red Ants got to it first.
Then there are those little fire ants. I could write volumes of my encounters with those nasty little SOB's while living in South Florida. When out in the field collecting, if you stopped to collect something and failed to look were you where standing and stept on Fire Ant nest/hole, It only took seconds for them to sting and bite. You would do the Fernando Rodriguez swan dance and the Wendle Smith tap dance. I spoke four letter words that would make the Pope blush.
Did I mention I emensly dislike ants!

Is this an attempted hijacking?
