phanaeus1 4/07/2018 While we are airing sour grapes here=(i Promise-this is NOT a permanent "hobby!"But people who steal from others DESERVE to be exposed! (despite any tempory feats of "honesty"they may engage in) to further their business and grease the skids, as perpetual theivery will end the game too quickly and the cunning ones know how to string people along to maximize their profits.Iam dealing with another possible offender(but am not Certain Yet) I would like to know if any one in the Forum is familiar with a company titled: "Specimen World" based in San Diego run by a person named Vadim Touryguine who is affiliated with Some Peruvian butterfly suppliers=Official Catolog Of The Butterflies Of Peruvian Selva ? i sent him some money about 2 weeks ago and now, despite his promise to send me my order has" slipped off the radar" and does not respond to emails- but web site is there:http://tvostudio.com .I am not ready to catogorize this dealer as dishonest=but does any bodyknow anything about him or the company?

I had problems with him with a return of a damaged specimen. His manner is abrupt, his first response is denial. One
bad experience with this shady character was more than enough for me. Buyer beware.

Thanks Richard! I Appreciate your taking the time to reply.Im fairly new at ordering specimens from the various dealers out there.its allmost impossible to really know who the ripoffs are, without hearing other peoples experiences/knowledge with someone that is picked randomly from some website/source.My lack of personal experience and lack of contact with "those in the know" certainly hasnt helped my situation,also being a collector of a rather "non popular genus"=hard to find dealers who sell Phanaeus scarabs(especially the rarer ones)results in some hurried decisions on my part/ and blind trust Will eventually lead one down a dark alley.Again, its people such as yourself who are willing to share their info with others(especially beginners such as myself)that can make a difference.The dealer mentioned above has not returned any gmail replies to my inquiries despite his assurences of sending me my order 2 weeks ago,plus some of these people who apparently lack a conscience, will use the fact that you have a legitimate claim against them And are making an issue about it, as further reason to never send you what is rightfully yours.Also Dieter, i take no offense at your good advice!i am slowly learning the ropes, at 60 years of age ive learned quite a bit about entomology but still lack knowledge about Homo Sapiens!There is such wonder and beauty given so freely by the natural world that it would seem to be a waste of time to obsess over a few bad actors, but im gratefull for being able to correspond with honest folks via this Free Forum Thanks Again!phanaeus1

That's why Insectnet offers this free forum and Insect Trade Reports.  We also try to block all non-professional sellers from the Insectnet Classifieds and from our supplier lists. Not an easy job, a lot of boring emails with the banned suppliers as you can imagine. |

You can search the old posts in the Trading Reports section using the forum search function at the top of the page. Put the name or part of the name of the seller you want to check on in the search terms and you may find information about him there.
There are also websites dedicated to exposing general online fraudsters, a Google search with the name and including the word fraud or scam may yield results in some cases. Note that you cannot use a Google web search to find posts in the Trading Reports section, as that is not publicly visible, it's members only.

For what it's worth, when he was selling on Ebay about seven years ago I had multiple successful purchases from him, mostly coleoptera. I never ordered directly from the website though.

I'm saddened to read about a bad experience with Vadim. I have done numerous good transactions with him with no problems. Hopefully he will get busy and fill your order in good faith. Keep us posted.

phanaeus1 Glad to hear of your positive experiences with Mr.Touryguine. its all a bit confusing and i dont want to judge him too quickly or label him as untrustworthy, as this is the first time ive ordered from him.I sent him a postal money order on 3/16/2018/ i didnt hear anything from him(most responsive dealers will send you a tracking No# for your package)on 3/26/2018 i sent him an email asking him if he had recieved my funds,he replied that "Yes i did recieve your check.I am out of town right now and wont be able to ship your order until Saturday(3/30/2018 or Monday at the latest(4/2/2018)"That was the last i heard from Mr Touryguine(and no package=Yet)and no response to personal emails or to his company web site=Specimen World tvostudio.com.His company specializes in Peruvian Insects,allthough he has specimens from other countries as well.Without any info i cannot know for Certain if he is in Peru/perhaps? or simply avoiding me.Having gone through "a rough patch" with 3 dealers recently has made me a bit apprehensive, but i would be the first to forive and forget / if and when mr Touryguine contacts me and sends me what ive paid for!.Perhaps some one else on the Forum can try to contact him and see if he will respond? /insect075@gmail.com or tvostudio.com i feel i am treading on a narrow line between just trying to get the info about my situation and/or perhaps alienating this dealer and then never recieving what i ordered.Patience is a Virtue, but it doesnt Allways Work! phanaeus1- Regarding Mr.Touryguine: he has contacted me and has processed my order( after being out of the country for a month) he apparently had some trouble in leaving Peru on schedule,but is catching up with his business stateside,so thats one more thing i DONT have to think about! also want to Thank the helpfull people in The Forum and The Insect Classifieds,the ads they posted for me have allready produced results= connecting me with a couple of European dealers who seem to be honest and professional people.Thanks Again!

Phanaeus1 Yes, Vadim Touryguine sent me my package and was kind enough to send a gift/specimens with my order.The confusion started with my recieving an e mail from him imforming me that my package was going to be shipped on a certain day/then no contact for a month, as Mr Touryguine had gone to another country and didnt seem to have the time to process my order/or notify me.Not having dealt with him in the past,i didnt know how things would work out.As it stands now, he has done the right and honest deal(and apologized)I feel his is honest and do not wish to create any issues or lost business for him due to my concerns, as we all make mistakes on occasion and thats certainly not an act of dishonesty.My concern now, being that i have alienated him to the point that he will not do any further business with me.
