I have been trying to collect female Tiger Swallowtails to harvest their eggs, but I have not seen very many this season. I am about 15 mi S of Philadelphia, PA. The local places I visit seem to have PLENTY of Monarch's and there is a vast amount of Milkweed in bloom, but other than those there are plenty of Cabbage and that's about it. I'm fairly new at this, so could it be that it's still too early yet for the swallowtails? Is there any way I might attract them to my yard? I had a lep trap out last year and it did collect a wide variety but never a swallowtail.
I also noted in another post that I was unable to access Clark Thompson's videos from the main page, but I have since found most of them at wayback.com. I'm trying to emulate his swallowtail egg collection and rearing method and everything is set up to go.... but.... no Tigers!
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks in advance, Jon

Use a dead specimen as a decoy Dead decoys only attract males. Jon wants to catch females. Adam.

Last time I was in Philly, I saw many of Tigers inside the city limits. Look in residential areas for Butterfly Bush (Buddleia davidii) in bloom and you will find Tigers. Of course, in some Philly neighborhoods, you'll likely get shot or gang raped or mugged or all three.
