John, About Meinertzhagen: according to [Garfield, Brian. The Meinertzhagen Mystery. Washington, DC: Potomac Books, Washington. 2007]- almost everything in colonel's career, from his war adventures to achievements in ornithology, was a fake. I hope this won't discourage you from reading the book. There was also article about Meinertzhagen's "crimes" in ornithology (stealing and mislabeling specimens in leading museums): John Seabrook, A Reporter at Large, “Ruffled Feathers,” The New Yorker, May 29, 2006, p. 50. .....what is really sick. Just calculate how many starving people in Somalia, West Africa, Chad... would get full stomachs just for 1 tomahawk, how many improvements should be done in healthcare in US or UK, education level should be improved, unemployment in UK is 2.5 milion, taxes going up....and we support this kind of behaviour ?
