Finally, thanks to David Camerons leadership, the UN imposed a, "no fly " zone in Libya. Today, French, British warplanes shot down some Libyan fighter bombers, and destroyed some of Ghadaffys tanks, thus protecting innocent civilians. Ghadaffys days are numbered. Hopefully, he will stand trail for ordering the Lockerbie airliner bombing, and numerous other war crimes.

Democratic nations leaded by Mr. Cameron can not afford to save lives everywhere across the Globe: the number of tomahawk missiles is limited. Sergey

Mugabe and his bandit regime would take a different approach. In 1954, The British Govt. send in a special commando unit to "neutralize" the murderous Mau Mau in Kenya, amazingly these white anglo-saxons were able to infiltrate the Mau Mau gangs, kill their leaders, end their reign of terror in Kenya. This sort of thing would work in Zimbabwe, since Mugabe and his thugs are a modern version of the Mau Mau. The people in Zimbabwe were much better off under Ian Smith, when it was called Rhodesia.

John When will the president of the usa go on trial for murdering 290 civilians aboard Iran Air Flight 655?

John, I checked Mau-Mau upraising on Wikipedia, it looks like the rebels were defeated by regular army. Where did you read about the infiltration of Mau Mau gangs (or freedom-fighters, in modern terminology) by special commando units of white anglo-saxons? Thanks, Sergey

It was covered in a book, I borrowed from the City library. This was a documentary circa 1956. It detailed this units exploits, from beginning to when Queen Elizabeth II herself decorated the men upon their return to the UK after they had completed their mission. In todays UK, this subject, probably would not be politically correct. I will try to locate a copy from my "Chapters book store"

In 1996, the United States and Iran reached "an agreement in full and final settlement of all disputes, differences, claims, counterclaims" relating to the incident at the International Court of Justice. As part of the settlement, the United States agreed to pay US$61.8 million, an average of $213,103.45 per passenger, in compensation to the families of the Iranian victims. However, the United States has never admitted responsibility, nor apologized to Iran. As of summer 2009 Iran Air was still using flight number IR655 on the Tehran–Dubai route. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655Ronald Reagan was President during the downing of the aircraft. He is currently dead.

John, I will appreciate it, if you find the reference - the story you mentioned is intriguing. Speaking of the history of colonial wars, have you heard about colonel Richard Meinertzhagen? Best regards, Sergey

Sergey: Actually, I had never heard of this man....I looked him up, pretty interesting bio! I will do my best to locate that book, wish I had marked down the authour, title. There was another interesting reference work done on the French Foreign Legions elite division made up Austrian, German soldiers who had served with the waffen SS, army units in WW2, now again fighting Communism, the Viet Minh in French Indo China 1946-54. They even launched raids into Red China to destroy training bases, ammunition depots... When finally allowed to return home in 1954, this unit got the French govts highest honour and respect. Charles De Gaulle said, "They were masters of the battlefield" John
