I'm in Northern New Jersey. I've recently noticed these tiny (2mm max) flying insect in our basement and dining room. Would love to know what I'm dealing with. Thanks in advance.

Greetings, I'm not a dipterist, but I think I recognize this - at least to the family level. Looks like a species of fly in the family Phoridae.
