This lens rocks! Camera body: Sony a700. Used a light tent with two flashes on each side in a ratio. F/11, 1/200 sec., ISO-100. Attachments:

Can you give a crop of the real size pic and not a resized version ? Otherwise it's impossible for people to judge how good the lens is/is not. Also the black color of the middle specimen is odd and there is shadow, I would have tried more settngs with the flash

It has light a purple sheen over it. Shadows are meant to be there but I think they could be improved by adjusting the flash units. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks ! It really looks nice. I bet it will be handy out in the field with those 100mm focal length.
For the flash I put them at pretty much the same height as the wings so that they come from the side of the wing edges as much as possible, this gives you alittle extra in sharpness. Unfortunately this gives odd pics with species that have iridiscent colors like the Zerene here because you won't see any purple on the pic. I wanted to try out 3 light sources for such species but did not have the time yet to test.
I attached a pic where I had no flash on the left and then very flat flash on the right. On the left you just see the scales, but on the right you see that some have several points at their tip.

Resized pic of the species I showed above, some kind of 18 mm apex to apex Tortricidae.
Material used: Nikon D5000, 55-200mm tele lens and 62mm of macrotubes and then a flash kit from Nikon with 2 Nikon SB-R200.

Nice pic Nomihoudai - although I'd change the background color personally.

Thanks Chris, the background was just a test with a piece of paper I had here. If I will take proper pics I will also try to get a better background color. Or just cut the background out, therefore blue would be fine in order to cut out the fine hair with photoshop.
I'm still testing out some gear and then I might update the micolepidoptera-photography topic I once started.
