As a youth, I dreamed of giant beetles and Ornithoptera. The "big ticket" item my buddy got from his uncle out of state was an amazing Eacles imperialis- wow! Rare! Unobtainable (in our area)! So now here I sit, many years later- decades after I got a Megasoma elephas and 20 years after I caught my own Megasoma- with four male M. elephas in the relaxing container. No big deal. I have another dozen, these are in the container only to relax so they can be repositioned and shipped safely. I got them from a guy who had them and needed money; I didn't need them, don't have time to sell them, I was just trying to do my part to help somebody. They're all under 95mm, which ironically is larger than the exciting elephas I bought for my youthful collection 40 years ago. I look at these, and am both bothered by the consumption of time to relax them, and the fact that at one time they would have had excited me so. Chuck

Time has the bad habit of doing that to all of us.

If I were a kid again.....(with one condition- knowing what I know now). I would have collected more specimens of each species I encountered during my early years. I would also have taken much better care of them so that they would not have been damaged and lost to dermestids. Losing entire collections is one of my biggest regrets in life! Having the diligence to take care of irreplaceable things sometimes comes too late.

If I were a kid again? Mmmhhh, my childhood was not so bad with loving parents and no hunger but I prefer to be an adult. However, I would have bought some specimens which are now not on the market, more breeding as I did. And I would have bpought facebook shares or apple so I could afford now more...... Haha...
