On October 17, 2018 I sent $900.00 worth of Saturniidae deadstock to this guy. All specimens were reared by myself and were kept in the freezer since eclosure. He was aware of the fact that they needed to be stored in the freezer or set out to dry. We had previously made an agreement that he would pay me by the end of 2018. He told me he would most likely pay it before Christmas of that year. Normally I don't ship before payment, but I have done business with him before so I wasn't worried. After seeing by means of USPS tracking that he had received the package on October 20, three days after I sent it, I contacted him to remind him to place them in the freezer immediately. He told me he was too busy to look at them and that his mom put them in the freezer. At the end of November I contacted him and asked if he could send some of the money. He said he would try to by the end of that weekend. Never received any money or heard back from him. On January 7, 2019 I contacted him and asked that he uphold his end of the deal and pay me what he owed. He told me that he had recently opened the box to discover all the specimens were completely destroyed by mold beyond use. I told him that I inspected each specimen before enveloping them for shipment and that they were in pristine condition. He tried to tell me they must have gotten that way in transit and that he wouldn't be paying for stock he couldn't resell. After asking repeatedly for photos he finally sent them. I told him that in almost 20 years of shipping fresh, undried deadstock I have never had this happen and that it was impossible for mold destruction that bad to happen in just a few days. I consulted other people in the deadstock trade and after viewing the photos the consensus was, that mold damage to that extent would have taken months to occur. Everyone has agreed that the damage had to have occurred while the box was in his care. Based on the evidence I believe that either the box was never placed in the freezer or if it was, the freezer died. As the conversation went on he changed his story and told me that he personally took the CLEAR, plastic container out of the cardboard box and put it in the freezer. When I questioned him as to why he didn't pop the lid off at that time just to take a quick look he said he was too busy. As of now he has still not paid. He tried to send the box back and I rejected it at the post office. Do not do business with him! He lives in VanWert, Ohio and runs a shop called Fae's Cabinets and is the owner of Lady Crawley's Pets. Travis Lynn Tribolet-Ward is his name. Here is one of the photos showing the damage that he claims happened in 3 days of shipping.

I fully stand behind Nathan Boob, not only as a very close personal friend but for his honesty, integrity, attention to detail, quality and perfect reputation in the insect community. Some of the specimens were of my own in that shipment and I personally delivered them to Nathan and watched as he put them in the freezer before he packed them up for this guy. I know Nathan, there is NO WAY he would have sent the specimens in that condition and certainly wouldn't have sent them in that condition expecting any payment, esp. $900 worth! I have also been sending and receiving live and deadstock for over 20 years and have never seen such mold damage blamed on 2 days in the mail. It's obvious the buyer did not follow the instructions upon receipt, and due to his own ignorance/neglect is refusing to pay in good faith for material he says he now cannot use. More on the mold- He stated that it must have happened during transit. At most he received the box in 3 days and Ive sent numerous packages through ebay sales as "fresh, frozen" overseas that were in the post for 2 weeks or more in some instances that arrived without any issue of mold.
He was given 3 months to inspect and pay for these specimens, I find it very interesting that not once before the three month past due date he told Nathan he wasn't going to pay. I guess if he would have paid in advance he would have opened that box immediately and inspected each one? I don't know about you, but weather I pre-paid, or was expected to make a payment esp. a payment of that size Id be inspecting the shipment right away.
It is sad the growing number, but still few dishonest buyers are ruining it for everyone. For those buyers out there that have a problem with paying in advance paypal friends and family option (even if we've done business before) this is exactly why, and you can thank people like this for the diminishing trust.
I've recently declined some fairly large sales from deadstock buyers who insisted on paypal goods and services because of this, and if you ignore and still send as goods and services I reject payment. All it takes is for the buyer to open a false claim through paypal and the seller has no recourse. Sadly most transactions and the majority of us within the community are honest, but with the amount of work we breeders put in, its not a risk Im willing to take. I am a buyer, seller and trader. My advice to buyers is work only with sellers that have been around for a long time to avoid being cheated. Those of us that have been doing this for 5, 10, 15, 20+ years would have been blasted a long time ago if we were ripping people off as sellers.
Hard lesson Nathan and I feel bad for you. I will spread the word the best I can, and hopefully instances like this also help buyers understand that we sellers are also dealing with getting cheated as well.

There is no excuse in that behaviour from Travis indeed ! Very sorry for you Nathan.
Let us know if you get a payment from him.
He will totally destroy his reputation if he doesn't pay you. I will post your post on my facebook groups too.

Many years ago he receive my items and gave every excuses under the sun to not pay me. This happened twice as I was gullible to forgive him the first time. He will be telling you the snow is heavy, he has broken his hip and to top this off he even pretended to be his assistant to reply and said he has left his phone and the assistant knew nothing about the payment etc. Looks like things never changed after all these years. Never deal with this guy, avoid like plague.

Contact the District Attorney in his town/city. This is fraud- clearly, he has a pattern of this.
The DA will probably start by telling you to file in Small Claims court, but insist you want criminal charges.
Even if it goes nowhere at least you will bring some heat on him.

The FB page says Fort Wayne, Indiana (Pretty much the city I live in)... Very unfortunate. It's too bad I can't find a review section on Facebook. It's so strange that I've been down that road more than once.
