Other than size, does anybody know what characteristics distinguish glaucus maynardi from glaucus glaucus?

Papilio glaucus maynardi are only known from Florida. They are considerably larger than Papilio glaucus glaucus.
There was an early thread on Papilio glaucus maynardi. I will see if I can find it.

This is a photograph of both Papilio glaucus maynardi (Top) and Papilio glaucus glaucus. (Bottom) By appearance, both P, glaucus glaucus and P. glaucus maynardi look the same. However the size and wing shape are quite different.

It is next to unbelievable. Every time I post pictures of specimens, the emails pour in to purchase, exchange or donate specimens. I even had someone request that I include them in my will to inherit these specimens.
Give me a break!!!

Not like wanting something from San Christobal. So why not jump a plane and catch some? Chuck

P. glaucus maynardi is a darker yellow. There is a blend zone in northern Florida so to get true maynardi venture south below Orlando

I found Papilio glaucus maynardi as far north as Jacksonville along the east coast of Florida. I did not collect extensively in the Florida Pan Handle.

I also collected Papilio glaucus maynardi just below Jacksonville in Orange Park. As I previously wrote, there is a blend zone in northern Florida where you can collect both and also hybrids.

I am not currently in a position to photograph specimens. Possibly some time after the first of the year.
