I have not heard about any new ssp. of T. imperialis from S. Yunnan. Can you tell us the citation of the publication (author, year, journal name, volume/issue number and pages) so I can try to find out more about it?
If a name has been validly published somewhere according to the articles of the ICZN Code then it doesn't matter how unknown the publication is in China or any other country. On the other hand, whether the subspecies is really valid or not is another matter which would need subsequent study.
Here is my current listing:
Teinopalpus imperialis Hope, 1843 ssp. imperialis Hope, 1843 (Silhet) = parryae Hope, 1843 (Silhet) = impelialis Nose, 1990 [ISS] f. kabruana Turlin, 1991 (Kabru, Manipur) [IFS]
ssp. himalaicus Rothschild, 1898 (Bhutan)
ssp. behludinii (Pen, 1937) (Mt. Pailuting, 180 li NW of Chengtu, Szechuan) = miecoae Morita, 1997 (Northern Kachin State, Myanmar) = colettei Collard & Dion, 2007 (Mt Nam Kha, District de Gnoi-Ou, Province de Phongsaly, Nord Laos [loc. err. = Sichuan]) = kiyokoae Collard & Dion, 2007 [NN]
ssp. imperatrix Nicéville, 1899 (Taungoo Hills, 4,000 feet, Upper Tenasserim, Burma) = bhumipoli Nakano & Sukkit, 1985 (near Fang (2297m), North Thailand) = gillesi Turlin, 1991 (20 km. S. W. of Sam Neua, Laos) = gerritesi Nakano, 1995 (Nan, N - E. Thailand)
ssp. herteri Collard & Iwamoto, 2012 (Mt Tunorum (2400 m), Ngoc Linh Nature Reserve, District de Dak Gle, Province de Kontum, Centre Vietnam) [status uncertain, probably a synonym of imperatrix]
ssp. hakkaorum Schäffler, 2004 (Lianhua Shan, 60 km. E. of Meizhou, Guangdong, China) f. ♀ nigrescens Schäffler, 2004 (Lianhua Shan, 60 km. E. of Meizhou, Guangdong, China) [IFS]
IFS = Infrasubspecific name ISS = Incorrect Subsequent Spelling NN = Nomen Nudum
