Oliver/Adam:
Please remove the advertisement. It is totally inappropriate. And I think some of the items are illegal to buy trade or sell(?)....?

We had people like that before on here, and it would be in the best interest of Adam/Olivier to get the add offline as soon as possible.

That's why I moved the post here and gave it a relevant subject line. It was originally hidden in the thread about Cicadas mating where Olivier may not see it.
Unfortunately I can only moderate posts on the forum - I cannot delete classified ads which are not part of the forum, Olivier has to do that.
Adam.

I'm sure the ads were "real", and I think everyone knows that rhinos are protected, and ivory has been illegal for decades, and I'm not 100% sure about pangolins, but I think they are protected as well, not only did this subhuman poacher post these clearly illegal items, claimed to offer living reptiles and amphibians as well in a different post. I reported the ad as soon as I saw it, and it was up for nearly 2 days, and finally made an announcement post. Individuals like that have no place anywhere in my opinion, and we do see this sort of thing from time to time, I remember some other "person" several years ago posting an ad for tiger cubs, which is just as equally disgusting. It's really incredible that someone would even post ads like that, it can't be some sting operation by wildlife officials, normally those things go in the other direction, and even if some unscrupulous person wanted some of those items, getting past customs would be just as difficult as smuggling drugs, even if the whole thing was just a scam to get some twit to send money through western union. I am relieved to see there were some other people as bothered by the ads as I was.

the whole thing was just a scam to get some twit to send money through western union. There you go. While many laugh at these "Nigerian" scams (as they were known long ago, since most were from Nigeria) analyses has demonstrated that they are actually well crafted to prey on a specific audience. Most nobody here is stupid enough to believe the seller can deliver, nor would anyone here send any money. But most here in general are not the target. I say most- note the casual visitor that can't tell a lacewing from a beetle- they just might be induced to want a pet pangolin, and are more likely to not realize it is very controlled (i.e., illegal). These types of ads also employ the "shotgun method"- put out 1000 such ads/emails, and all you need is one hit- one gullible enough to believe it, ignorant enough to not know it's illegal, and trusting enough to send money. Going back to "well crafted" it has been shown that these posts/emails are specifically designed to avoid those who are smart enough to realize, at some point, they are being scammed- those that will ask questions, show to relatives, etc. They are designed to be outrageous or stupid enough that most people won't respond- which makes them highly efficient by avoiding wasted time. In the sales process this is known as Qualifying. Clearly, the "Nigerian" scam has proven effective, thus it continues to this day. Chuck

scamorama.com/Very funny and you need weeks to read it all. But starnge to see how many people believe that, I had customers very excited and I exlained what this type of scam is. Somebody daid 6 billion ( 6 thousand million ) dollars each year. Well just ask for Papilio greenlandis from greenland. Surely they will make a good price! haha
