Hello, I am from Belgium, live in an apartment (last floor, 8th) and since the heatwave end of July this bug started appearing in my apartment. Especially in the bathroom where I killed several babies (around 3 millimeters) I did some search and think it is a Germanic cockroach but I am not sure. My place is relatively clean so I do not understand how these started popping up. They seem more active at night. Any help is highly appreciated and tips on how to get rid of it. Thank you ! ibb.co/3BW32Qmibb.co/HXbpVwY

1 is a subadult cockroach The 2nd is an adult winged cockroach
I like roaches as they remind me to clean up after myself.
Im no expert so cannot tell you what species they are...although its likely that you're correct as they lopk Germanic

Those look like Brown Banded Roaches, Supella longipalpa, especially the nymph. They do look similar to German Roaches, Blattela germanica, but the main way to identify German roaches is by the two dark lines running from behind the head to the base of the wings. Keeping a clean home is important to help keep the population of roaches down but they need very little food. If I remember right, a raisin provides enough food for 400+ roaches for a day so little tiny crumbs in the corner of the floor, a small dab of grease from cooking behind the stove or small drop of juice or soda is more than enough. As to where they came from, probably one of your neighbors. Roaches are very hard to control in apartments and if one resident doesn't do anything about their roaches they can quickly spread. Here's a couple of info sheets from the University of Florida that you can use to compare the German and Brown Banded roach. They also give some info on how to deal with them. Good luck. entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/URBAN/roaches/brown-banded_cockroach.htmentnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/urban/roaches/german.htm
