The Sierra Nevada parnassian Parnassius behrii seems to be quite localised. I read today about it and was very curious how common it is? Any current news about it? Field reports? Also in how far is it truly different from smintheus and clodius? On the few photos I found it always looks quite faded, but it seems the colours of behrii are just not that strong?

Thanks guys! I also googled some photos and found photos of fresh specimen on iNaturalist, and it’s indeed that yellow colour, very interesting.

I don't think it'sa protected species, but it sure can be local. Gotta go to higher elevation or below peaks to find them, though they can occur lower if habitat is good.
