Hi last night I found this beetle I’m guessing in my home. I have 3 cats who love eating insects so when they seen it they were excited. My one cat then went up to it and I don’t know if he tried bitting it or something but he then all of a sudden jumped backwards and his eyes started watering an extreme amount and sane with his mouth and then he was acting all scared etc. The mom of them then went up to it and she then gagged then the other one just wouldn’t go near it. My sister then killed the beetle and I took a picture so I could try and identify it.
PLEASE HELP!

From your description of the event it sounds like it could be a beetle of family Carabidae. They can eject nasty stuff from their abdomen when attacked.

There are youtube videos of them spraying and it is amazing. Tyson
