I have Bait Traps set out in the Mantua Wetlands and some of the forested areas adjacent to those Wetlands. One of my trap locations is near a Natural Gas Well with a liquid holding tank and a Gas Line Pressure point. The access road is gated. I went and ask and was given a key.
I went to check my trap at this location and found several plastic bags with trash and garbage. One of the bags was broken and trash was scattered about. I had nothing to clean it up. However, I found some junk mail with an address.
The following day I returned. I brought with me a couple of flimsy white trash bags, 18 X 18 X 24 box with a shipping label with address I found on the junk mail. I packed the trash in the box, applied my label. The return address was the County Sheriff's office. It cost me $18.70 to ship it.
I have no idea what happened.
Am I bad or what??
I should have taken a dump in the box. I thought about it. If they discovered the sender, I could get into some difficult legal issues.
I have been back to the location to check my trap. No more trash.
I actually drove by the address where I sent the box. It was an expensive large home with a well manicured yard out in the country. No doubt, they had to drive into town to pick up the box from the post office.
I did my good deed for the day.

I just would have told the police about the trash dumped. I would have given the police the address in the trash and they may have decided to give the owner of the trash a fine for polluting. Sometimes rich folks do not care obviously about polluting the earth they live on and harming wildlife that comes in contact with the trash. Some folks just lose their consciousness of what is right and what is wrong. Hope you get some neat critters in your trap.

When it comes to someone's garbage, most law enforcement do not readily respond. Unless it is hazardous material they sort of turn a blind eye. However, should they encounter some one in the act, they will react.
I have found people's garbage/trash numerous times. I have also observed the culprits in the act. I have reported piles of trash. It seems no one cares or possibly the manpower or ability to clean/pick it up is nonexistent.
Another problem that helps to generate piles of trash, is access to dumpsters. While living in both Kentucky and North Carolina had public trash disposal sites. However, there are people that are to lazy to drive to a disposal site and just dump trash where ever the want.
In Portage County, Ohio, we have numerous industrial sites. People will bring there trash and use the dumpsters of business. If they cannot get access to a dumpster, parking lots are used.
I am not sure of this now, but when we lived in Virginia (1970/1980) if you were caught littering, the judge could sentencing you to a trash/road side clean up. These were usually a group activity. Road side collection were to dangerous, violators usually cleaned up trash in parks, parking lots or around shopping malls.
It was once suggested to cut off the hands of those who were caught littering. I personally think that is a great idea!!

How about castration?
That works for me.
