Hello all, Here is a portion of my collection I have recently put some time and money into. Over this break from school I finished spreading the specimens I had acquired. It's such a beautiful group of moths. Unfortunately there is only one species, Hemileuca maia which lives anywhere near me. Luckily, I found some people willing to trade and sell some of the western species. I also have H. hera male and a female H. nevadensis on the way now. I'm always looking to add the missing species so please reach out if you have them available for trade or sale. Pictured: Hemileuca oliviae H. eglanterina eglanterina H. eglanterina shastensis H. nuttalli H. electra clio H. hualapai H. electra electra H. tricolor H. juno H. burnsi H. electra mojavensis H. neumoegeni H. griffini H. grotei diana H. nevadensis

Nice drawer of Hemileuca. H. maia peigleri flies in my area (TX). I have some in my collection, but no spares at the moment. I'll let you know if I catch more. There is an isolated population of peigleri that lives along the southern coastline of TX (as opposed to the hill country where the primary population is). The coastal population is about 300 miles distant from the main population and flies later in the year (around Christmastime). The white area of the wings is almost transparent (moreso than normal peigleri). Other than a couple of scientific fascicles, the coastal population has not been mentioned in the literature. It was at first thought that the coastal population might be a new subspecies, but DNA analysis showed that it's just an isolated population of peigleri.

I certainly hope to get out and catch some Hemileuca hera this year. I've been told they are found in Summit County Colorado where I visit a lot in the summer, but the nearest records I can find locations for seem to be down the way in Grand County. I caught a H nuttalli near Cripple Creek a few years ago and was thrilled. Nice collection Tim!
