I assume that it is subfamily Morphinae, what we used to call Amathusiidae in the old classification. Sorry I cannot identify it myself, I know very little about African species.

Sorry guys, this is a member of the family Satyridae. It is Bicyclus sebetus as far as I can tell. There are several quite similar.

Sorry guys, this is a member of the family Satyridae. It is Bicyclus sebetus as far as I can tell. There are several quite similar. Thanks very much for the correction. I just realised this butterfly is actually quite small, but in the photo it looks rather like a Zeuxidia which of course is very large. Adam.
