Hi, Im looking for some information on this insect i found. The closest resemblance i can find online is that it looks very similar to a trilobite beetle. I figure this is wrong, seeing as this insect was found in Ontario, Canada on a farm outside of Cambridge, Ontario. It moved very similar to a trilobite beetle and had a very small head that retracted. I know trilobite beetles are very rare and only found in southern asia so im quite confused as to what it could be.

Greetings,
I believe your specimen may be the larva of some species of beetle in the family Lampyridae, the fireflies, or lightningbugs, as we called them when we were kids. Try scanning the images on BugGuide.net and see if you can get closer to a genus...
Cheers! Bandrow

Bandrow is being humble, it is what he said it is.
Trilobites have been extinct for many millions of years. Fossils may be found in Ontario. I found a nice big one on Galloo Island.
